Art book

”The Universes of Monica Ritterband” is the title of Monica’s new, big art book. The art book contains works from the period 1996-2008. Art historian and museum curator Thomas C. Thulstrup from Salling Museum wrote the following about the art book:
”It is an uncompromising book in which the graphics, the photography and the art interact in an impressive way and together make up a veritable cornucopia of a book”.

The musical Christmas table

Royal Copenhagen’s biggest PR effort is the annual Christmas table event, where tables are set in their flagship store in Amagertorv in the centre of Copenhagen. Together with five other RC designers Monica Ritterband was asked to set a table with their own dinnerware as the main feature. Monica’s Musica became a big, musical table where you could sit on tubas and see a huge tuba with holly in its mouth. On the rough-hewn planks of the table Monica had created forest undergrowth with moss and pine cones that she combined with gold plated sofa notes. To sit around the table she had invited musicians such as Kim Larsen, Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney, Anne Linnet and Nikolaj Znajder. The Christmas tables were seen by thousands of people during December 2007.

Big love notes for RC

In the autumn of 2007 Royal Copenhagen launched Monica Ritterband’s love notes as a large, black  porcelain figure.

Brick giant

Monica Ritterband’s largest brick sculpture was revealed in June 2007 at a big party at the contractor Enemærke & Petersen. The sculpture "Unity", which Monica Ritterband produced in collaboration with bricklayers from E&P, had been underway for a year. It now has its home in Klostergården in Ringsted.

Monica’s piano keys

In the autumn of 2007 Denmark’s largest bakery chain started an extensive national television campaign introducing their new baked good "Monica’s Piano Keys" – named after Monica Ritterband. The collaboration started when the bakery had been successful the year before using a textile that Monica had designed for the chain and which uses simple and precise lines to explain the history of baking. The chain thereafter established contacts to Monica and Royal Copenhagen and the new triangular cooperation, in which the baked goods were displayed on Monica Ritterband’s royal porcelain set "Musica", brought much attention.

Monica’s CowParade cow

The big, international CowParade came to Copenhagen in the summer of 2007. Here Monica Ritterband and 44 other artists were chosen to decorate life size fibreglass cows. Monica painted her cow with her well-known raindrops. And the cow was given the name "Sign of Life". First the cows were displayed round about in prominent squares in Copenhagen after which they were auctioned off, the proceeds going to Save the Children Denmark. Monica Ritterband’s raindrop cow was prominently placed for a couple of months in Kongens Nytorv in the centre of Copenhagen and then in Tivoli where it stood the rest of the summer. At the auction Monica’s cow fetched the fourth highest bid. After the auction the raindrop cow was chosen to be made in a miniature format.
