Monica Ritterband’s large brick sculpture »Unity« was a commission to express the basic values and attitudes of the contractor Enemærke & Petersen in a physical form, values in which the focus is on team spirit, a mutual sense of responsibility and unity. »I chose to construct the sculpture in brick since E&P are known for their expertise in bricklaying.«

»It was a very enriching process in which I experienced how meaningful it is when members of a big team (engineer, architect, bricklayers, carpenters, construction leader, building owner and artist) have the same goals and solve problems individually and in the group with great enthusiasm. It was an experience in which no stone was left unturned and all problems were solved in unity and with team spirit. Actually, »Unity« as a work of art is impossible because the bricks in the many heads in the sculpture hang downwards. However, the impossible became not only a possibility but a reality.«
