Even though my grandfather died years before I was born, it was his musical sheets with the shapely notes and the organic treble clefs that inspired me, from an early age, to step into the world of music and experience each individual note as tiny living beings that had each their sound and each their personality. I started to draw my notes at the tender age of five years. I sat at the family upright piano and looked straight at one of my grandfather’s compositions – the one with the big treble clef on the front page.

I loved that treble clef. I thought it was so beautiful, so curvy, so proud. This was where »The Proud Note« germinated. Since then I have worked graphically with the notes and that has resulted in the dinnerware and the series of Musica figurines for the porcelain factory Royal Copenhagen.

Apart from that, I have drawn them umpteen times, painted them, welded them in rusted iron, shaped them in clay and wax and cut them out from steel, silver and gold«.
